Cap 06: 1920's / 30's belted-back suede leather flat cap (Sold)

A strikingly fine condition leather cap from the heyday of the fashion.  Hailing from the late 1920's / early 1930's, this supple suede driving cap is luxuriously satin or silk lined and ready to don. The suede has been cleaned and brushed. Note the last image which shows some faint water spotting on the top. Definitely not too noticeable and presents beautifully. Slight signs of wear here and there, none remarkable. The brim, snap closure, decorative belted back and leather sweatband are all in fantastic shape. 'Exclusive Caps' reads the logo.  Three tags are stacked under each other behind the band - "Genuine Leather 7 3/8" / "Union of Cap & Millinery Workers"/ and what appears to be an even older '7 3/8" tag. Don't miss this one, they rarely come up this old and fine!

SIZE: Large - 7 3/8"  /  59cm  /  Approx. 23"

Cap 03: 1930's Eight-Panel Newsboy Cap (Sold)

A beautiful late 1920's / early 1930's eight-panel newsboy cap in a gorgeous black & white tweed wool.  The wool has a beautiful drape and the proportions (dig that 11" crown!) are wonderful. Only two signs of age on this otherwise pristine cap: 1) the crown button has rusted slightly underneath the fabric, yellowing the button a bit (see pic). 2) The luxurious silk lining has loosened along some of the inner seams (see last two pics). This can be repaired easily, but it doesn't hamper wearing the cap as is. No tags, unknown maker.

Like all the caps I sell, this has been carefully washed to remove dirt and oils, the leather  protected and dressed and the cap reshaped to its original glory.

SIZE: Large - 7 3/8"  /  59cm  /  23"

Cap 02: Deadstock French 'Casquette' Flat Cap from early 1950's (Sold)

A classic French casquette from the early 1950's. The 100% wool crepe is a beautiful deep slate blue with reddish/brown undertones - see close up views of the fabric to see the colors that make it up. The pattern is one of the most subtle I have ever seen - please check out the overhead view to see the stripe.

Note - the close ups of the fabric and snap are the closest in terms of actual color - this was a hard fabric to photograph.

Never worn, this 'deadstock' cap was stored in a stockroom for the last 60 years. Beginning as an extra small size 6 5/8", it was washed and slowly and carefully resized up to 7 1/8" (57cm).  Label states: "FRANCE - La Casquette de Qualité - Marque Déposée"

Cap is in excellent condition with pristine lining and strong brim/snap closure. Study the last image of the rear left side, which has a faded fold-line from storage. Although it is visible, it is still eminently wearable.

Like all the caps I sell, this has been carefully washed to remove dust and storage folds and the cap reshaped to its original glory.
